BrianFeener.com: Status Report

Published by bgfeener under site admin

I think we’re temporarily settled here!

You’ve probably already noticed that I’ve gone from a hard-coded format to a WordPress template solution. There are clearly advantages and disadvantages to this, but for my needs and the time-being, this will serve me best. If nothing else, the set-up was easy, free, and gets my content in front of you, the reader. Thanks for sticking with me through it all.

A couple of notes about the change:

Note #1 - Re: the fitness blog: If you remember my old format, you’ll notice that the CrossFit/Fitness blog posts are missing. Good news - they’re not gone forever. Bad news - they really don’t fit in with the format of this content. What’s a blogger to do?

I figure I have three options: start a new blog, hold off and keep the posts till I figure something out, put the posts here.

I don’t want to start a new blog. With Jason all but quitting the medium (for reasons that are unclear to me, considering I just got a 2000 word dissertation from his email list this morning) I can appreciate how hard it can be to get new content up everydayeverydayeverday. With a full-time job and everything else, it can be stressful. Doubling up on that stress is not an attractive option.

I don’t want to hold off on posting updates and journal entries. I haven’t stopped working out and I want to keep track of my progress. I can see it now - I consciously don’t post for 2 months and then I end up forgetting the whole thing.

The last option is not the best solution, but I figure that if I make a business-centric link back to the name of the workout, the struggles I had during the workout, or just a musing, I’ll be sticking to my rules. Another option is to exclude the posts from the front page and not worry about the extra business issues.

I’ll keep this egalitarian… what would you, the readers prefer?

(I’m giving this poll a week to get votes, then I’m making a decision.)

I won’t edit old posts to make them fit the content, but all NEW posts would maintain the format. It’s not the best solution, but I don’t have enough patience to call up that second WordPress Dashboard.

Note #2 - Re: The Golden Gate Bridge. I’ve never been further west than Minnesota. However, this awesome WP template came with a panorama shot embedded in it. I WILL make a custom header unless someone wants to *ahem* give me one. (900×180 - thanks!).

Update: Nevermind. Got one edited up this morning.

Note #3 - I’m finally done moving into my new apartment and I should be making more frequent contributions to this thing.

I just want to say sorry to everyone out there who reads on a regular basis. I’ve been super busy at work and haven’t had too much time to think about posts. It stinks cuz this is what I want to do.

Anywho, if you have an idea or just want to say hi, bgfeener@live.com.

Mahalo.
